About

Merry Meet! I am so glad you have stopped by.  If you wander around the internet you can find my real name, however I request that you do not use it here. For the intents and purposes of this blog, my name is Ivyanna or Ivy for short.

I have previously run another blog that focused on occult DIY. While I am still a very crafty witch, that is not my focus for this blog. For this particular season of my life, I am focusing on myself and bringing you along for the ride. I have always been very strong in protection magic. Recently I have become extremely empowered by curses and hexes, using my fiery and passionate side to protect myself from those who would disturb my peace. If you find yourself in a similar state and are asking why do people do this, I've narrowed it down to 2 reasons. Either because they were unhappy with themselves or because they sought power in tearing me down.

But I'm here to tell you that I will have absolutely NONE of that.

If you found yourself here from the previous blog, thank you for continuing to support me. I cherish that so much. I hope that this new blog and new adventure will resonate with many of you. As we age and gain experience and become wiser we shed off the old versions of us and become someone completely new. I needed to do that with the blog, with my online persona and just relish in the powerful female witch that I have become.

For those who are not familiar with me from the previous blog, oh boy, strap in. My magical journey began around the ripe ole age of 7. I was brought up in a predominately Catholic/Christian household but I lived for escaping reality into imaginary or magical realms both in book and TV form. At some point I made a Book of Shadows out of a notebook and wrote my "spells" in it. My mother, found it and thus began the series of talks.

Fast forward through my dad's death and my falling out with the Christian faith at 11, it wasn't until I was about 14 years old that I was drawn back to witchcraft. My mother had moved us from the conservative Midwest where I was born to New Hampshire and one of her co-workers was not only gay but also Wiccan. He and his partner showed my mother her ignorance and both my mother and I began our journey down our respective paths. I no longer talk to my mother but I do still keep in very close contact with this same person. He is a close family friend and a mentor.

I initially started out calling myself Wiccan, learning from that particular sect (the Gardnerian tradition, as that was what my mentor's family consisted of and what he taught). However, it never sat right with me completely. So I rejected those teachings although not completely. I am very much the type of person who can say "okay, this is not for me but if it works for you, knock yourself out." Finding that I preferred to cherry pick what I like and do not like from a particular type of paganism I identify myself as a solitary eclectic pagan witch. Yeah that's a mouthful. I do particularly favor more Hellenistic theology as well as Norse cosmology (sometimes referred to as Heathenry - I particularly focus on the Asatru / Scandinavian tradition).

I am certain I will have many posts detailing a lot of the things I have talked about here, however if you have any questions feel free to send them on over.
